ブレンダン博士と成長の土台「コアバリュー」について考えました

本校では世界の人々と協力して、これからの不確実で複雑な社会で力強く自分の道を切り開くことができる人材を育てようとしています。今回は、ブレンダン博士に、コアバリューについて考える授業を実施してもらいました。コアバリューとは、会社やチーム、または人が「一番大切にしている考え方や価値観」のことで、迷ったときの判断基準になるなど成長する際の土台になる考え方です。ブレンダン博士は、本校で教えているSEELearning(社会性・情動・倫理の学び）をアメリカのエモリー大学で開発し、エモリ―大学と慶應義塾大学で観想教育を研究しています。

授業では、自分が大切にしていることをペアワークで共有した後、オンラインホワイトボードMiroで自分の意見を全体と共有し、親和図法で関係性を整理しました。自分にとっては、経験が大切、友情が大切など、各人で自分の価値観について考える良い機会となりました。

授業は、ブレンダン博士と研究室の学生さんと一緒に実施され、生徒と語りながら授業をゆっくりと進める姿が印象的でした。自分自身のコアバリューについて考える時間は、とても大切なので他のクラスでもコアバリューについて考える時間を作りたいと思います。

This time, we invited Dr. Brendan to conduct a class on understanding core values. Core values are the “most important ideas and beliefs” held by a company, team, or individual. They serve as a foundation for growth, acting as a guide when making decisions.

Dr. Brendan developed SEE Learning (Social, Emotional, and Ethical Learning), which is taught at our school, at Emory University in the United States. He also conducts research on contemplative education at both Emory University and Keio University.

In the class, we shared what we value most through pair work. Afterward, we used the online whiteboard Miro to share our opinions with the entire group and organized the relationships using an affinity diagram. It was an excellent opportunity for each of us to reflect on our values, whether it was the importance of experience, friendship, or something else.

The class was conducted with Dr. Brendan and his lab students. Their approach of slowly progressing through the lesson while conversing with the students was very impressive. Spending time thinking about our core values is incredibly important, so I’d like to create opportunities for other classes to consider their core values as well.
